Jon Wyatt's voice change

I don't know if he uses John or Jon, either way since last week, his voice is markedly different. My first reaction went to a mic change, along with a new compressor/processor and much different settings. He could have also had the surgery on his voice box that a lot of radio people end up needing due to nodules. That usually takes some of the bass away and the grit.

Anyone know?
