It's named that way for two reasons:

1. The Wisconsin Idea, which is the philosophy embraced by the UW, which is what gave birth to flagship WHA and is one half partner of WPR.

2. It's pretty common for public radio talk formats to have "Ideas" as part of their positioning. News & Ideas is popular, and Cleveland calls their public radio station Ideastream. It's to differentiate itself from commercial talk radio, which is largely just a monologue of hot air and agendas. Public radio talk formats are geared towards conversations and civil discourse, which is all based on ideas.

What would you rather it be called?
