Ahh, the days of driving between the two markets -- sometimes to be on the air in both markets that SAME DAY. Now they just hook you up to Adobe Audition where you record breaks, and throw them on an FTP server. You don't waste gas money but you don't get paid for the shifts either. You get paid for the time it takes you to record your breaks.
At least there are a few exceptions. Vicki McKenna and Dan Conry are actually doing live shows, even if they're both usually broadcasting from WIBA-AM and feeding to WISN-AM. This isn't the case anymore but for a long time Connie & Fish were feeding from WZEE to WQBW before they moved to Milwaukee to do the reverse.
I don't pretend to understand radio these days. There's splicing tape vs. VoxPro and that's one thing. This Premium Choice crap and syndicating people from smaller markets to bigger markets is another.
