It can't be a personal decision. Not only is it a pain in the ass to manage but it dilutes your personal brand.
Normally if you're a traffic reporter, people in the area know you're doing traffic on other radio stations. They assume you can't possibly be making a salary just by doing traffic.
Even in Chicago most traffic reporters use the same name on multiple stations. The only difference is usually if you're doing traffic on a similar format station, then you might change it. That's been my experience.
There's also another side here where it could be argued traffic and/or news should be done by a voice exclusive to the audience of your individual station. So not using the same name especially during drivetime reports could have been a request by any of the PDs of the stations he does traffic for.
